Hi There!

My name is Valerie. I’m a 20-something adventurer who loves to explore. Born to a Singaporean mom and American dad, my childhood often felt like uncharted territory as I learned to build my own sense of home and identity between the Midwest of the United States and Singapore.

My interest in travel started from a very young age when my parents and I would take trips back to Singapore to visit my family and has snowballed into a life dedicated to fueling my curiosity. I’ve lived on a 1,000 passenger ship for nearly four months in college, lived in a van for a year while driving to South America, and taken many turns in between.

Beyond traveling, I’ve also spent much of my early 20s pushing my physical courage and bravery by attempting to learn some extreme sports like rock climbing, mountain biking, skiing, and others! My extreme sports guide is also someone you’ll probably notice in a lot of my stories and photos here, my partner Bryce—a Colorado native, (very) patient teacher, and logistics wizard. He’s also the most exuberant person you’ll ever meet.

What are we doing here: this space is another turn towards my curiosity—what can documenting my experiences and learnings do for others? Anything? What could it do for me?

I guess we’ll see!

Hello!

Valerie and Bryce here from The Great Untold. We're so glad you're here. The Great Untold is our personal ethos for life. While the unknown is exciting for us, it’s the people we meet along the way, the places we discover, and the stories we fall into that really inspire us. We've lived on a ship, in a van, in the mountains, and in some of the world's biggest cities. The Great Untold is an opportunity for us to share what we learn with all of you.
